I seriously am in love with Romeo and Juliet. I had first read it in about 5th grade and I've loved the story ever since. But my English class is killing it for me.
For example, in Act V, when Romeo's man brings news of Juliet's death, he says "Is it e'en so? Then I defy you, stars!" We had already gone over in class (multiple times) that the stars stand for destiny, because back in the day, people believed that the stars could track one's destiny. Anyway, after we read this part, my teacher stops us and asks, "What does 'stars' represent again?"
I couldn't believe what I heard; "The Montagues and Capulets!" "Romeo and Juliet!" "Death!" and so many other random things. I just wanted to scream.
Nobody in my class is taking R&J seriously. I hate freshman English xD
(BTW, this is my favorite song ever, and it's about Romeo and Juliet!)
